Dilli Raj Bhatta, ESQ.

Dilli Bhatta

Dilli Raj Bhatta is the founding member of the firm. He is at the forefront of a constantly growing practice. Mr. Bhatta has extensive experience in all phases of commercial transactions, litigation, and intellectual property law. He advises clients on a broad spectrum of matters and provides unique strategic solutions in resolving complex legal issues. He continues to represent individuals and corporations in complex transactions and cases in New York and in United States Federal Courts. Aside from commercial litigations, Mr. Bhatta advises and represents business entities on international trade and transactions, commercial arbitrations, contractual disputes, Intellectual Property matters, and Mergers and Acquisitions.

Prior to this firm, Mr. Bhatta worked for The Myers Law Firm, a prestigious Northern California law firm based in San Francisco. He also worked as an intern at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office where he gained in-depth trial experience working with the DAs.

Mr. Bhatta received his LLM degree focusing on Intellectual Property Law and Corporate Law from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Mr. Bhatta was part of Cardozo’s Study Abroad program, Introduction to Law in India in Hyderabad and New Delhi with an Intellectual Property Law focus. He is licensed to practice law in the State of New York. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Federal Court of the Eastern District of New York, and the United States Federal Court of the Southern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, American Bar Association, and New York County Lawyers’ Association.

Mr. Bhatta is a frequent guest of radio shows and he is a recurring keynote speaker at live business seminars, where he interacts with individuals and various business owners and board of directors.

 

Licelle Cobrador, ESQ.

Licelle Cobrador brings in-depth knowledge and experience in different aspects of the practice. She practices federal court litigation, immigration law, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and family law serving a wide range of clients. Aside from litigating matters before the U.S. Federal District Courts and Circuit Courts, she represents clients on issues related to the Philippines and the U.S. as a part of her cross-border transactions practice. Ms. Cobrador has the uncanny ability to solve complicated legal issues. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Cobrador worked for White & Associates, and Donald Wall, both New York based law firms. Previously, she worked as an associate at Rodrigo Berenguer & Guno, a leading Philippine law firm; as a consultant for the Department of Justice in Manila; and as a chief political affairs officer for the Philippine House of Representatives. She taught at the University of the Philippines, Manila, lecturing on conflict of laws, foreign policy and the judiciary.

Ms. Cobrador was a Dean’s Merit Scholar at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where she received her LL.M degree focusing on Intellectual Property and Immigration Law. She has a J.D. from the Ateneo de Manila University, where she was a Dean’s Lister. She received her undergraduate degree in Development Studies, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines.

Ms. Cobrador is licensed to practice law both in New York State and in the Philippines. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the First, Second and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Federal Court of the Southern District of New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY).

Ms. Cobrador serves on the Board of Directors of the Filipino American Legal Defense Fund (FALDEF).

 

Marcus Brown, Esq.

Marcus Brown

Marcus Brown is an Associate with Bhatta Law & Associates. His background includes experience in varied phases of transactional and litigation matters. He works with the law firm to provide services namely within the field of intellectual property law to include Trademark, Copyright, Technology Licensing, and Media & Entertainment Law.

Prior to joining the Bhatta Law & Associates, Mr. Brown was a legal intern for the International Chamber of Commerce in New York and a General Counsel Extern at DC Comics, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Mr. Brown graduated from the American Intercontinental University – London with a B.B.A. in International Business Management. He received his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in Charleston, South Carolina, where he served on the school’s Moot Court Board. Following the completion of law school, Mr. Brown then completed an L.L.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Mr. Brown is a member of the Association of the Bar for the City of New York and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

ELENA AYOT, Of Counsel

Elena O. Ayot is an intellectual property (IP) attorney. Prior to joining the Bhatta Law & Associates, Ms. Ayot was with the Intellectual Property Group of the Law Department at NBCUniversal Media, LLC. Prior to working at NBCUniversal, Ms. Ayot was Counsel in the Boston office of Perry, Krumsiek & Jack, LLP where she focused her practice on patent and trademark prosecution, trademark counseling, litigation, and patent and trademark licensing agreements. Before joining Perry, Krumsiek & Jack, Ms. Ayot practiced at a boutique Boston intellectual property firm where she successfully counseled clients in all aspects related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and intellectual property litigation.

In addition to her previous roles at NBCUniversal and Perry, Krumsiek & Jack , Ms. Ayot was also a co-founder and principal of the SanEle Group, through which she provided a full range of professional consulting and legal services to start-up entities. In this role, Ms. Ayot brought considerable intellectual property experience to her clients involved in the delicate phases of development. Ms. Ayot worked with associates of the SanEle Group to provide comprehensive services to clients, including grant research and writing, and marketing and legal strategies.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Ayot worked as a Program Specialist for Covance, a clinical research organization. Ms. Ayot, who has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, has conducted extensive scientific research, and was the recipient of a Ford Foundation Fellowship which allowed her to study abroad in Tanzania.

Ms. Ayot received a Juris Doctor from New England School of Law, where she served as Senior Editor for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law. She is licensed to practice law in New York and Massachusetts.

Ms. Ayot is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Boston Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, among others.

Ms. Ayot currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Amy Winehouse Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (MWPC). She also serves as President and CEO of IvyLeagueSpeakers.com, an Ivy League alumni speakers’ bureau that gives 25 percent of its speaking fees to deserving students seeking an Ivy League education.

 

SUJEET KARKALA, ESQ.

Sujeet Karkala earned his Masters in Law from Duke University School of Law in 2011 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Mumbai, in India.

Mr. Karkala is originally from India and brings to The Bhatta Law & Associates tactical and strategic experience related to Cross Border Transaction and Common Law.

Mr. Karkala  worked as an In-House Consultation in International Business and Immigration with the Law Firm of Shaw & Associates, P.C. His practice with the Firm includes International Taxation, Immigration Law, Corporate Law, International Business Law along with Cross Border Transaction .

Mr. Karkala is a Foreign Trained attorney who has right to practice in India and have worked with number of law firms in India. He is also a consultant in the area of Corporate Taxation and International Taxation.

Before joining the Firm Mr. Karkala has done his internship with the Law Office of Allen E. Kaye P.C., in the area of Business Immigration Law (Investor).

He is Member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa. He is also associated with number of associations in India: Bombay Bar Association, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Association, and All India Federation of Tax Practitioners.

Mr. Karkala has published number of articles in various journals in India and abroad. He currently heads the Bhatta Law & Associates’s Mumbai office in India.

MAMPI GHOSH

Mampi Ghosh is a paralegal and a human resource coordinator of the Bhatta Law and Associates. She closely works with the attorneys, paralegals, and the vendors as necessary.

Prior to joining the firm, she was an extraordinary artist and journalist who worked for different radio, television and media organizations where she gained vast experience and excellent communication skills. Ms. Ghosh also worked for a renowned international hospital as a business client relations manager overseeing their client portfolios. She holds a Master of Business Management from Tribhuban University.

She is fluent in English, Bengoli, Hindi, Nepali and Urdu.
